Second post for the site things are starting to roll.

I awoke this morning like I do every morning stood on the front step and watched as the sun moved across my yard.  And I have an awesome yard for a Garden but the problem I have is it's a rental and the land owner would not be very happy me digging her yard up.  So I have determined that about 20 or so 5 gallon buckets if set up right could supply us with a good amount of veggies.

Now my idea is as follows after watching numerous videos and after much research, I have determined that a square foot gardening system is the way to go which I can implement with the five gallon buckets.  Now the ideal part of this is the buckets are moveable and can be transported without disturbing the plants.  Another plus to this is when you know you have a stable location this system can be easily converted over to a rain gutter self watering grow system.  Which I shall explain here shortly,

I know people who work in convenience stores and it is very easy to get good 5 gallon buckets.  Now you only want ones that have been used for food if there were chemicals in them there's a chance of contamination.  Now with just a 8 to 12 foot length of raingutter figuring about 2 foot per bucket you can get quite a few buckets set up and a small area.  By cutting a hole in the bottom for a filter cup to fit into so it sticks out under the bucket you now have a wick fed planter place some weed felt inside the cup to keep the dirt out.  And just line your buckets in a straight line with all of their wicks sitting in the rain gutter.  Now this rain gutter if you have a water tank or collected water can be set up for auto feeding.   A float valve mounted where the water goes into the rain gutter and you have a self watering system.  Easy peasy!

I know that just a quick explanation and images help wonders I will be working on it soon right now I am just starting some seeds for the up coming grow.  still 2-3 before we can start planting here in Maine but I can start the babies.  I will be posting a blog later on about how I go about the seed starting and getting them ready for the move outside so keep an eye out for it.  join the new letters and you'll be emailed when it's posted.

Papabear Frazer's Creations

Welcome to the first Post for Papabear Frazer's Creations

Very first thing; I would like to start with a thanks to all who know me and have stood by me.  Most importantly a VERY SPECIAL THANKS to my parents.  If not for them raising me the way I was, I would not be the man I am today.  Thanks to my parents, I experienced many things most children nowadays do not have.  I acquired a very creative mind through the years due to these experiences.  I have interests in Poetry, Photography, Gardening, Exploring, Canoeing, and Hiking.  I have done pretty much everything if it's outdoors I am there.  I have been called on occasion RAMBO, which was a name I got when I was a Webelos Leader for a couple years.  Papabear is one name I used starting in the mid 80's when I started with computers.  I also do a lot of artwork which can be viewed on my Facebook Page.

This will open a new window so you can see.

I recently went to college for Graphic Design & Computer Animation in Sept of 2007, I graduated Valedictorian status in my graduating class.  Since then I have been a professional photographer with LNSS(LifeTouch National School Studios), yes the ones that do the school pictures.  I am knowledgeable in Group Photography, Portraits, Senior Picture Photographer.  I also play around with Macro, Landscape, and Nature photography.  I'll shoot just about anything even getting into Product Photography as well.  But now let's get back on track;  My reason for blogging is mainly to get things off my mind.  To maybe reminisce on some of the things that really had an impact on my life.

Well that's enough about me!  I am really curious about blogging and thought I would give it a try.  I have a lot of friends on Facebook from my past who know how I am.  I am a very laid back kind of person.  I recently moved back to Maine after being in Florida for the last 35 years.  As they say in Maine, " Ya Kant Take Tha Mainah Outa Tha Mainah..." My dream is to create my own fully independent residence someplace here in Maine, location still undetermined as of yet.  Raising livestock such as chickens, Pigs, Turkeys, Cows.  I am a secluded kind of person the quieter the better lets me think.

Presently, I'll be moving soon but also the planting season is starting.  I very much want a garden but the moving is an issue.  I have a way I can take it with me when I go which I'll post the steps as I get them started.  I was given 2 free roosters a couple weeks ago which are soon going outside and out of their pen.  Even though they have no hens the roosters will eliminate the flee and tick problems in the yard.  You could also remove a flee and tick problem in your yard as well.  You would only have to deal with the occasional wake up at sunrise.  I plan on having hens soon, within the next month a mix of them, I chose all the Very large brown egg layers.

Here's a run down on what I plan on getting after doing some research.
5-Barred Plymouth Rocks,
5-Black Giants,
2-Black Australorps,
and finally the lil guys these guys lay Smaller multi color eggs pinks, blues, greens,
3-Araucanas are also know as the Easter Egg Fowl in Chilli.

All these little projects I plan on doing soon, and I'll be posting some of my progress for all to see so if you're interested, favorite my page, and join the mailing list.  I'll email you when I do something on the blog to show the progress.   I look forward to you coming back thanks for stopping by.
